WinMark Pro External Communication Protocols

 

MODBUS® I/P Protocol

 

Note: The Modbus communications protocol works only with WinMark Pro v6.2.0.7117 or later.

 

The Modbus protocol is handled in the Flyer head by an external communications server named SynComm. SynComm allows users to access various marking head functions via Flyer's Ethernet port using one of three different protocols: (1) Modbus/IP protocol for interaction with PLCs or other MODBUS network devices; (2) Modbus-Asynchronous protocol, a SYNRAD-modified Modbus protocol for peer-to-peer communications; and (3) SmartFH protocol, provided as legacy support for customers who have upgraded existing FH Smart systems to FH Flyer and wish to continue using custom programs written specifically for FH Smart marking heads.

 

 


 

 

WinMark Pro/Flyer Modbus Protocol Application Note

Our Modbus Protocol Application Note provides information about communicating with Flyer/Fenix Flyer heads using Modbus I/P. This protocol includes a basic set of register-based commands (supported by many PLCs) as well as an extended set of commands using a Modbus user-defined function code.

Windows Form Control Example (Visual C#)

The Windows® Form Control (for use in conjunction with WinMark Pro builds v6.3.0.7492 and later) is a .NET application that demonstrates controlling one or multiple Flyer marking heads with a single application, controlling a marking head without the need for WinMark Pro software (and associated Hardlock) on the PC, and development of an interface having more functionality than the Flyer web page interface. The Windows Form Control Example Zip® file contains all of the necessary files for developing a C# From Control application.
